New Ideas and Innovations

Having worked on used units for years,
we have come up with some ideas for an improved product.

Zero Clearance Water Fills

The water fill protruding from the building seemed to be a hazard and a nuisance
and sometimes made the unit over width.

We have incorporated
Zero Clearance Water Fills
into Gemco units.

Floor System

Having found the floors on older units to be higher in the center of the rooms and lower by the outside walls, Gemco decided to use metal cross members to eliminate the problem of fatigue in the wooden floor joists. This allows us to run our floor joists lengthways on the skid, giving more overall strength to the building.
This also enable the heating ducts from end to end without cutting any floor joists.

Bolting System

Another common problem with older units is coming loose from the skid.
By the time you need to tighten the bolts, they are too rusty.
We turned the bolts so that the threads are inside the building to eliminate the rust.
The self-locking nuts are held in place so they may be tightened at any time.

As well, we router 1" x 4" belt rails into the studs so that all of the metal screws
have adequate backing for long lasting hold.
